I'm Barbank

Hello, my name is Barbank. I'm 21 years of age and I live in the United States of America. TG invited me here because she said it would be a place for writers and readers alike to chat and mingle n such. I generally like places like this. Therefore, I shall frequent here often.

I'm really too lazy to explain my writing, but there's a link below in my profile stuff that takes you to my Elfwood page. I only write fantasy, and if you happen to find the one scifi story I wrote, you're apart of The Herscher Project. If you don't know what that is, do not worry. Once this site picks up I'll convert members from there over to here.



So, I'm mainly into *HIGH* fantasy. This includes authors such as George R. R. Martin, R. Scott Bakker, and any other author that bends the norm of fantasy. Do not try and preach to me about lower forms of fantasy such as Harry Potter or Eragon, as you'll hear my preachings back as to why I think they should be banned.

I'm pretty much online a lot so if you wanna IM me or anything feel free.

Hi Barbank. It would be a bit odd if I would welcome you, so I won't do that.
I must confess that I do like Harry Potter, and Eragon is in my opinion the best book that I read so far. But don't worry, I like what you call higher fantasy too (I expect that you count Tolkien to that too?)
I'm looking foreward to read anything of you, although it won't be easy in a different language.

My list doesn't include Tolkien because i said *bend* fantasy norms. I realize he is the "father" of fantasy, but I've read too much fantasy to ever enjoy his work.

Yes, I know you don't like Eragon, but I really do. And you can say what you want, Paolini was very jong wen he wrote it, and already he is more famous than GRR Martin Maybe Paolini will grow in his writing-style, and he also will write some 'higher fantasy' some day. We'll see, I guess.

I agree with you're point barbank.. But in my opinion Standard fantasy and 'lower' fantasy is fun from time to time ^^

Welcome barbank. I don't believe HP is falling under the 'lower fantasy' catagory, it's a childrens book. The chronicles of narnia are children books as well and they are highly accepted. But it's a matter of taste what you like and dislike.

Well me myself just says hi!

I'm back! I had been tied up with other matters such as school and this thing called real life. I also had been wasting my time in others areas which I did not benefit from. So yeah, thanks for the welcomes and I'll be back to where I was. I quite like it here and I hope to stay.
