BOSTON -- Boston police are investigating the deaths of two children who were found fatally stabbed in their own home over the weekend.
NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that crews were called to the scene of a duplex on Maynard Street in Roslindale about 9 p.m. Sunday and they could not gain entrance. Officers broke in through a window and when they gained entrance they found the bodies a 10-year-old boy, his 12-year-old sister, and their mother.
"Three individuals, two of them apparently deceased, one of them suffering from multiple stab wounds," Boston Police Superintendant John Gallagher said.
Police said the 31-year-old mother was hospitalized.
Neighbors said the children's mother had text messaged several people Saturday to say that she was giving up and was upset over the recent loss of her job at Children's Hospital.
"She called the house yesterday to tell us that she was going to kill herself, and my girlfriend talked to her, to see what was up. I don't know. We never thought that she was going to do that," friend Juan Gonzalez said.
He said the children attended a summer camp at the Hyde Park YMCA.
"She was a nice person. She was a good mother and everything," Gonzalez said.
Police responded to the house when they received a suicidal call.
Officials were investigating the slayings as a domestic incident and said no arrests were made.
"This does not appear to be a random incident. We are confident that the neighborhood is still a safe neighborhood at this point," Gallagher said.
